vetiveria zizanoides—distilled from the roots and rootlets. Deep, earthy-woody fragrance with a sweet undertone. Has also been called musty, spicy, dark, full, smoky.   Color and scent can vary according to source. Blends well with SANDALWOOD, ROSE, VIOLET, JASMINE, PATCHOULI, LAVENDER, CLARY SAGE, YLANG YLANG,ORANGE, NEROLI, CARDAMON, TUBEROSE, GERANIUM.
Used as a fixative and fragrance in soaps, cosmetics, perfumes. Many like it very much, and many consider it simply awful.
Contains:  Vetiverol, vitivone, terpenes, palmitin acid, benzoe acid.

Generally considered non-toxic, non-sensitizing, non-irritating in low doses.  Dilute well for topical use.
