Peppermint

mentha piperita -distilled from the flowering herb. Has a highly penetrating grassy-minty camphor odor. Blends well with BENZOIN, ROSEMARY, LAVENDER, MARJORAM, LEMON, EUCALYPTUS, GRAPEFRUIT. Always dominates, when blended. There are many variations of mint, including SPEARMINT and CORN MINT. They all contain high amounts of menthol. Used primarily as a flavoring agent in cough remedies, and many foods, especially gum and candy. (Menthol, menthone, pinene, menthyl acetate, limonene, thujone, pulegone, cineol, menthofuran.)

CAUTIONS: Generally considered non-toxic. Possible irritant and sensitizer. Dilute well for topical use. Do not use near face of infants or children. Best suited for diffusing and inhalation.
