Mandarin/Tangerine
Citrus Reticulata/Nobilis/Delicosa—expressed from the outer peel. The terms are used somewhat interchangeably. They are chemo types of the same species and the oils are quite different. MANDARIN is considered sweeter and almost floral. Blends well with other citruses, NEROLI, and the spice oils. TANGERINE is considered more fresh, orange-like, but with less “body” than MANDARIN, which is preferred in perfumery. Blends well with other citrus oils such as lime, orange, lemon, and grapefruit, as well as spice oils such as nutmeg, cinnamon, bay and clove.
The “green” mandarin is fresher and fruitier.
CAUTIONS: Generally considered non-toxic, non-irritant. Possible sensitizer, especially with old oils. Dilute well for topical use. PHOTO TOXIC. Do NOT use on skin exposed to sunlight.
