Red Meat

Red Meat

A Study conducted by Harvard Medical School, by studying the records of the Nurses Health Study, the data contained dietary habits of 90,000 women from 1991, 1995, 1999. These women were questioned about the meat consumption. The Researchers found out that the red meat consumption by these ladies was very high and is linked to a higher risk of breast cancer.

Scientist also found that women who had high tendency to eat more red meat than normal and were more likely to be obsessed. They also were smokers. These two factors are related to increase risk of breast cancer. Statistically, women with these two risk factors overweight and smoking are less at risk with breast cancer when compared to women who have large quantities of red meat.

The study is not so successful as it did not define what the serving size of meat is. It didn't prove how much the women ate, a 16 oz steak or 3 oz portion, what type of meat she eat and what was teh size of serving 16 oz steak or 3 oz of other meat.

The analysis is that, whatever the facts are, the study suggest that eating red meat causes cancer. So what can we do to avoid breast cancer? You should always know the sources of meat you are consuming. Try to take small servings of red meat. By trying the mediterranean diet where small portion of meat are used for garnish, instead of serving large amounts at a meal.
