Is your Anxiety a disorder?

In everyday life, we experience nervousness and anxiety.From time to time we feel anxious and fret.In spite of the presence of mild to moderate stress, we can still focus our attention, energy and motivation. If the same anxiety becomes severe, other unusual feelings like helplessness, confusion and extreme worry that are not normal. This type of anxiety that interferes with normal life is not normal. This type of anxiety is a symptom of another problem like depression. Anxiety may result in physical and emotional symptoms. Some times all of these symptoms are present for a little duration, when one experience fear or in some particular situation, and later on the symptoms go away.

Physical symptoms of anxiety are trembling or shaking, Feeling tightening in the chest, Breathlessness or rapid heartbeat, Lightheaded or dizziness, Sweating or cold, clammy hands, Muscles tension, aches, extreme tiredness, sleeping problems as inability to fall asleep and restlessness.

Anxiety not only effects our body but also affects a part of brain which controls how a person communicates,making it difficult for a person to express himself creatively or function properly in relationships. Emotional symptoms of anxiety are Feeling restless or irritated, worrying too much, Fearing that something bad is going to happen, Not able to concentrate and feeling that your mind is going blank.

ANXIETY DISORDERS

This disorder happens when people have both the symptoms physical and emotional. Anxiety disorder usually affects daily activities like how a person interacts with other people. Women have twicw the tendency when compared to Men. Panic attacks, Phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, and post traumatic stress disorder are all examples of anxiety disorder.The exact cause of anxiety disorder is not known but people with this disorder feel nervous and anxious all their lives. If one parent is diagnosed with depression, the chances of children to have anxiety disorder are high. It can occur in any age. This disorder often occurs with other problems like lung or heart disease or mental health problems. A coingmplete medical examination should be done before diagnosing with anxiety disorder.

PANIC ATTACKS

It is a sudden feeling of extreme anxiety or intense fear without any reason or when there is no dander or treat. Even healthy people experience it, but for few minutes.Panic attacks are common.The common symptoms of panic attacks are feelings of dying, breathing increases and heartbeat increases. Other symptoms include dizziness, sweating, difficult in breathing, chest pain. All these symptoms come in without warning.Sometimes the symptoms are so severe that the patient thinks he got a heart attack.This disorder can come with other diseases like coronary heart disease, hyperthyroidism or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

PHOBIAS
Phobias are fears that are extreme and irrational which interfere with normal life. People who have phobias which are not dangerous and are not rational, People are aware of them and are not able to control them. Phobias are common and are associated with other conditions like panic disorder or Tourette's disorder. Most people avoid phobias by keeping away from objects or situation that cause them to panic, this is called avoidance behavior.

When avoidance behavior becomes so severe that it interferes with your ability to participate in your daily activities, it is called Phobia disorder.There are three types of phobia disorder:
1. fear of being alone or in public places where escape is impossible (agoraphobia)
2. fear of situation where the person may be exposed to criticism by others(social phobia)
3. fear of particular things(specific phobia)

TREATMENT

Home Treatment along with professional treatment can help relieve anxiety.

Identify or recognize your anxiety about particular  situation or specific fears, and make a plan to deal with them. For example if you are constantly worried about finances, set up budget and saving plans with the help of finances.It is useless to think about past problems, in fact learn to come out of it. Relieving tension with vigorous exercise or massage and practicing other means of relaxation techniques like yoga. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, chocolate and nicotine, all these increase anxiety level.

Engage your self in some activities, get out and watch funny movies or taking a walk or hike.Discuss your fear with a good friend, Sharing and confiding in oters sometimes relieve stress.Get involved in social work or help others and share  there problems. Being alone can make things worst sometimes. Go for a vaccation or take a breake from work or daily stressful life.
